A senior strategic leader, Fiona’s broad commercial and governance experience spans local and global businesses.
Fiona’s commercial experience includes roles as Chief Executive of Te Waka (the Waikato Regional Economic Development Agency), and senior leadership positions at Fonterra and RD1.
During her time at Te Waka, Fiona played a key leadership role informing the development of long-term infrastructure planning and advocacy for the Waikato region across roading, wider transportation, energy and housing. Te Waka spearheaded the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Action Plan, a first of its kind study that identified eight key priorities for this sector in the region.
In 2024, she joined an Infrastructure New Zealand study tour to the UK, to study devolution deals and their role in funding and developing quality infrastructure.
Fiona brings deep commercial, risk, financial and strategic skills, and her emphasis on sustained and authentic stakeholder engagement shapes the effective partnerships she forges and leads within organisations and across industries.
Across her governance portfolio, Fiona is a Member of Te Nehenehenui Trust Group Investment Committee and serves on the boards of Kiwifruit Vine Health Inc, Stihl Shop, JerseyNZ, Maungahururu Tangiutū Ltd, Kaiwaka JV, and the Home of Cycling Charitable Trust (Grassroots Velodrome).
Based in Cambridge with her family, Fiona is passionate about the transformation and growth that will advance economic development and prosperity in the Waikato region.
Fiona holds a Master of Science (MSc) from the University of Otago and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Victoria University of Wellington. Fiona is also a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand.
