Michael is Auckland Council’s lead transport advisor, working on congestion charging, emissions reductions, parking, safety and supporting Councillors. Michael has over 25 years’ transport policy experience, mainly in Australia. With degrees in manufacturing engineering and psychology, Michael focuses on human centred design and mobility behaviour. He has worked across the rail industry and the Queensland Government Transport Department in roles related to sustainability, congestion reduction and improving walking, cycling and public transport.
In May 2022, Michael undertook the Autoskills Australia Churchill Fellowship and spent 3 months researching progress on light electric vehicles across USA and Europe. The recent advances in battery technology and mobility options from e-scooters to microcars is now informing transport strategies for Auckland Council.
