With almost 20 years of experience in the industry and more than a decade in local government, Shyamal has worked with various local government, contracting and consulting organisations in New Zealand and Australia. Roles have spanned across leadership, executive management, operations, strategy, planning, asset management, designing, construction and project management.
Shyamal is the General Manager – Infrastructure at Waitomo District Council, where he leads a department of over 40 staff, manages an asset portfolio of over $500m, and oversees the services and capital contracts. His responsibilities include roads, three-waters, solid waste, properties, parks and reserves, and delivering essential services.
Shyamal is the recent recipient of the Taituarā Emerging Leader of the Year award.
