Sue is an experienced adult educator and joined Waihanga Ara Rau in 2021 after spending six years with Connexis as a training advisor in their national field team. In her current role she engages with a wide range of civil sector stakeholders, including employers and associations. She works closely with the other Waihanga Ara Rau teams to ensure the civil suite of NZQA credentials are fit for purpose and broader workforce development initiatives are explored and supported. After initially training as a teacher Sue went on to complete a Bachelor of Education in adult education, successfully combining the juggle of work, study, and family. She spent 17 years as Head of the Adult and Community Education programme at Otumoetai College and has also worked as programme manager for a large workplace literacy training provider and as a behavioural safety trainer and resource writer. Outside of work, you’ll either find Sue at the Hampton Downs racetrack, walking the beautiful Mt Maunganui beach, baking up a storm in the kitchen or spending time with her first mokopuna, baby Hazel.
