Wayne Stewart has over 45 years engineering experience. Over the last 20 years, Wayne has led significant complex transportation projects thorough NZ. He presently is a member of the Alliance Leadership Team for the Te Ahu a Turanga Manawatu Highway project. He is responsible for a team of ten engineers who must certify that the works have been completed correctly.
Wayne holds a PhD in engineering from Canterbury University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers. Wayne has published several engineering papers including winning the Australian prestigious Hooper Award for best paper related to transportation.
Wayne will provide an overview of the new highway which will replace the untimely closed Manawatu Gorge, and highlight some of the engineering challenges that the construction team must overcome to enable its construction.
